The requirement in 42 CFR, ยง 483.40(f), is specific in that the physician tasks may be performed by a NP, PA, or CNS “who is not an employee of the facility.” In this case, the NPP is not an employee of the NF and, thus, can perform physician tasks as long as they work in collaboration with the physician.
