If a person misses the voters registration deadline for thier state, can they still vote?
Answer Dear Evelyn, Thank you for writing. I believe it differs from state to state, but I think Missouri allows a person who registers late to vote for national (president) and state-wide issues, but not candidates besides the president. I may be getting that mixed up with a registered voter who moves during the period after registration closes. The best advice is to encourage a person to make the effort to go ASAP (as soon as possible) to their County Clerk or other Election Authority and register no matter how late. Not only will that prepare a person for the next election, but one can find out if any options are available for this election. The election judges serving on election day won’t be of any help to someone not registered at all. The last time I was election judge, I did have a person who registered at the license bureau but it was evidently not forwarded to the County Clerk (our Election Authority). He and his wife voted a shortened provisional ballot that was kept separat
