If a patient account has gone to collection, can the patient still apply for free care?

0

Yes. While the application time limits outlined in question 2.2a apply, if a patient is retroactively found to have been eligible for free care on the date of admission or service the account must be recalled from collection and written off to HCAP (see FAQ 6.4 for additional information on collection fees and court costs).
