If a new custom commercially available construction material was needed to be modelled, when would that update be available for use in BERS Pro?
BERS requires you to build your own construction system from a combination of building element type, insulation type, insulation placement and r-value, and in the case of walls the thickness of the material, eg brick width. What it stops you from doing is to insert your own guess as to what sort of air gaps are formed, and stops you from using materials that have not been checked by a “gatekeeper”. The gatekeeper role for new materials and construction systems for all assessment software is likely to be delegated by the AGO (the National Administrator) to a unit within ANU. The details have not yet been sorted. ACCURATE can not be updated any faster than BERS. The same “gatekeeper” restrictions apply. The “approved” combinations using the BERS options are very much larger in number than the number available in the ACCURATE approved construction library. The current BERS combinations are “safe” in that all the combinations have been audited. Whenever new construction systems are develop
