If a member is admitted to the nearest hospital in an emergency, will the member be transferred to a Kaiser Permanente hospital?
Members should try to notify us prior to admission whenever possible. Otherwise, the member, a family member, or the admitting physician must notify us within 48 hours of admission, or as soon as medically possible. We will decide whether to make arrangements for necessary continued hospitalization or to transfer the member to a designated hospital.
