If a Maryland lawyer is admitted to the bar of another jurisdiction that requires MCLE, would the lawyer have to complete an additional MCLE requirement for Maryland?
It depends. An attorney would be exempt from completing Maryland’s MCLE requirement if he or she has complied with the MCLE requirements of another State, provided that the other State requires at least ten hours of MCLE per year, and requires that at least one of those hours of MCLE be devoted to topics concerning professionalism.
