If a man and woman are both drunk, have consensual sex and the morning after…?
Indeed, it’s a double standard. I have a feeling it’s because we still view men as sexual aggressors- that because he is the one doing the penetrating (presumably), he is the one who therefore makes the conscious decision to do it. And then there’s also this prevailing idea that men apparently never don’t want sex- that he might never regret having it, that he will never feel taken advantage of or abused (I’ve seriously had people tell me that if a woman is hot, there is no way her having sex with a man would ever be unwanted or considered rape/sexual assault). It’s these old ideas coming in to color our perceptions. Although I still contest the idea that they have consensual sex; when you are drunk, men and women are both incapable of giving rational, informed consent.
