No, an employee who has completed an initial probationary period will not be required to serve another initial probationary period when selected for an NSPS position. With some exceptions, employees who have not completed an initial probationary period will be required to complete a 1-year initial probationary period when selected for an NSPS position. Probationary periods of DoD employees will not start over upon conversion into NSPS.
