If a customer wants entry to a professional kitchen (i.e. restaurant/pub) – are the proprietors legally….?
As a chef, I would not like people in my kitchen when cooking is in progress – to much hot oil and the risk of distraction that would change the hot oil into flaming oil. Were I still working professionally, I would refuse entry when cooking was in progress on health and safety grounds. Any client of mine would be welcome to visit my kitchen before cooking takes place, to see that the kitchen is clean, the fridges and freezers operating at the correct temperatures and that the stored food is labelled and in date. In my cooking days, I was never busted for anything and even my kitchen at home complies with the professional rules. For these reasons, I feel that the proprietor would be legally entitled to refuse entry during cooking. After all, the proprietor would be responsible if one of his chefs spilled hot oil over a customer!
