For the time period before the current month they will have to enter a one-time payment to satisfy those new increases. The worker will then need to complete a new Foster Care Rate Setting for the placement to change the supplemental and exceptional amounts, which in turn will automatically increase the check for the current month and all subsequent months. The Foster Care Rate Setting must be approved by both the worker and the supervisor before the rate changes will occur. Q: When a child is placed in a foster home and the foster parent is receiving a supplemental and/or exceptional rate will that current rate follow the child automatically when his placement changes? Back to top A: No. If the child is moved to a new foster home and the new foster parents qualify for supplemental and/or exceptional payment it will have to be entered anew.
