IE Privacy Keeper cleans up index.dat files, but does not reset their size. How do I reset their size?
• Close all applications (as many as possible); • Open IE Privacy Keeper and switch to the Files tab; • Click Add, then click Browse; • Specify C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder; • Select Custom file mask(s) and type index.dat, then select Fill with zeros and Process subfolders; • Click OK. • Repeat steps 3 – 6, but specify the folder C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\History; • Switch to the Internet Explorer tab; • Check the options Temporary Internet Files and Browsing History, make sure the Keep selective entries and Keep selective URLs are not checked for these options; • Click “Clean Up Now!”; • Close IE Privacy Keeper and restart Windows. • After the restart, open IE Privacy Keeper, switch to the Files tab and delete the items added in the steps 3 and 7; • Close IE Privacy Keeper.
