Id like to transfer a color print to metal. Can I do it with SelectaColor?
Color prints consist of dyes. Dyes are transparent, to allow colors to add together to make “process” color. Example, blue on yellow gives green. Because they are transparent, dyes show up only against a white background (color print) or when light is shone through them (color transparency.) Against any other background, they disappear. Try holding a color transparency against a metal background and see what you get– nothing. Rockland processes like SelectaColor, on the other hand, consist of solid pigments. They are not transparent, so they will show up brilliantly against any contrasting background. They are designed to be applied to all sorts of materials of different colors and textures, so in the previous example with a metal background, the image will be bright and contrasty. Pigments have other advantages over process colors such as resistance to fading, and can be exposed in sequence for combinations of colors.
