Id like to learn how to sail. Are there any sailing schools in the Boise area?
No, unfortunately, there aren’t any formal sailing schools nearby, the closest ones are on the west coast. Many people learn to sail here in the Treasure Valley, though it’s more of a do-it-yourself process. However, rather than buying a book and a boat and thrashing around on your own, we recommend that you get to know some local sailors and learn a few basics first. There are many types of sailboats out there and before you invest in one, you need to decide what type of sailing you’re interested in. The best way to get started is to ride on a few boats, get some hands-on experience, and surround yourself with experienced sailors who can answer your questions and help you avoid beginner mistakes. At SISA, we love sailing, we like to show off our boats, and are always happy to take guests on board at club regattas and other events.
