The Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) is an employment-based route, which leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The programme is intended to provide training opportunities for graduates for whom a traditional course of initial teacher training (ITT) may not be readily accessible. The programme is open to all those who hold GCSE maths and English or equivalent and a recognised degree relevant to the area they wish to teach in. In addition, experience in schools is essential and consideration for the programme cannot be given unless an individual has a school willing to support them as a graduate trainee. It is the responsibility of the individual to find a suitable training school – not the authority or the partnership. Ealing works with the West London Partnership which provides training and support for the GTP for candidates and schools.
