ok well pet ducks…. i could consider my ducks pets i suppose but one thing id recommend is if you want a duck make and enclosure outside for it or give it a pond or something ducks are very very messy if kept in a yard enclosure it is true you will have no grass left so if you keep them in a chicken yard type enclosure they need to have 2 sections or cages so at a time you could alternate thme or keep them outa the grass so u can plant more and keep the grass. yes ducks are also destructive in their messes they like to route throught the ground this is what destroys yards they will dig their bill into the dirt and mud and dig around scooping up insects. they require a higher protein grade of commercial feed aswell. but if you own alot of land and happen to have a pond let them free range its a little less destructive you just might wanna keep them away from any gardens.

WELL. It is true that they like to make a mess with their water. Do you plan on keeping your duck inside or outside? If you want to keep the duck outside I’d really stress getting two, because he’ll get awfully lonely when you’re not around. And do you plan to get the duck as an adult or as a duckling? Ducklings need a heat lamp for the first few weeks of their lives, and you can let them swim and leave the heat lamp for brief periods. Just make sure the water is warm and you dry them thoroughly when they’re done swimming, and NEVER let them swim alone until they’re older and fully feathered. Don’t feed them medicated chicken food, because that can be very harmful to a duck. Try your local feed stores for duck food. Chicken food is acceptable as long as it’s not medicated. Also, if you keep them outside make SURE you’ve got a well protected pen for them, I’d even recommend fencing under the ground, because predators will really try to get them. I had times when I’d come back out in the
