I would like a drop kerb but the application has been refused because there is a tree in the way. What can I do?
The Council will not remove a healthy tree to facilitate vehicular access to a property, unless there are extenuating circumstances i.e. disability access (under the Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy, we recognise that that some residents with disabilities may have special requirements for mobility, and require better access to their property. This would be taken into account when considering a request to remove a tree to facilitate a drop kerb). Evidence would be required and a case would be presented by the Arboricultural officer to the local ward Councillors for a decision.
