Adolescents who require a tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine as part of wound management should receive a single dose of Tdap instead of Td if they have not previously received Tdap. If the person has previously gotten a dose of Tdap, or if Tdap is not available, use Td. (www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00041645.htm, Table 5). Remember no more than one Tdap dose is recommended at this time.
