I was wondering, what are the health advantages of weight training?
The health advantages of weight training are many. Technically, weight training includes using dumbbells, barbells, and weight machines. Resistance training also includes weight training but includes exercises that can be done with no equipment such as pull ups, dips, etc. Resistance training exercises use your own body as resistance. Many abdominal exercises are fabulous examples of resistance training exercises. The health benefits for all resistance training exercises including weight training include, but are not limited to: reduction of body fat, lower cholesterol levels, lower resting blood pressure, prevention of muscle atrophy and weakness, improved posture, development of more lean body tissue, strengthens skeletal muscles, aids in improvement of bone density (helps prevent osteoporosis), stress reduction and mood enhancement, improved metabolism (burn more calories even at rest), helps prevent heart disease diabetes, and certain cancers.
