22820 is a pretty high number if you are from Asia. Basically, you can’t start your process until your case number becomes current. Current case numbers are published every month by the State Department: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html Also bear in mind, DV-2009 applications can only be filed in Fiscal Year 2009 which runs from October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009. So, if you don’t get your green card by September 30, 2009, your case will be abandoned. In a nutshell, the chances are slim, but hey it’s better than not winning the lottery at all!
