We no longer recommend the use of narrow pulse-height ranges to reduce the detector background in FUSE data. Careful analysis has shown that limits more stringent that the default values (roughly 2-24, depending on the detector) can result in significant flux losses across small regions of the detectors, resulting in apparent absorption features that simply aren’t real. For more information on detector backgrounds and pulse-height thresholds, see the FUSE Observer’s Guide.
