You are looking for ALMAR 127/97, which states that ballcaps or other types of headgear must be removed when indoors. Female Marines, however, may wear hats indoors, as appropriate to the occasion and dress (i.e., church or a social function). Items not intended to be worn as headgear will not be worn as headgear – this includes bandanas.
