A26: The 2000 Washington State Legislature wanted to provide both current and future PERS members with the opportunity to choose between the two retirement plans. The rules for current PERS Plan 2 members and new PERS members are different. To accommodate this, two sets of educational materials (including educational packets, videos and web sites) have been developed; these are the “Transfer Decision” materials and “New Member Plan Choice” materials.
