Given today’s gas and electric prices, a heat pump will probably not only be a good option, it will be your best option. A high-efficiency heat pump could be installed as either an all-electric system or as an add-on to a new mid-efficiency (80%) gas furnace. Either way, it would provide you with lower-cost year-round comfort than either a gas furnace/air conditioner or electric resistance furnace/air conditioner combination. Our booklet, Heat Pump: The All-Season Comfort System, has more information about heat pumps. CWLP electric customers can order a free copy online or by contacting the CWLP Energy Services Office.
