I want to create a server on battlefield 2142 but i dont want to rent one. How do i do this; just download the dedicated server?

You can download the dedicated server or just click multiplayer > local > create, choose your map and settings then start server. Your server will only be able to handle 2-4 players though, unless you have a super fast internet connection and it will be unranked, so not many players will want to join it apart from friends.
