Yes, you can. You find the Chinese gold shops all over Thailand. They normally advertise the price for buying and selling gold on their front door. That is the price you pay, plus something extra for the making. If you find the extra part for making acceptable, buy. You can go back the next day to sell your item again, at the same shop or at a different shop. No problem, you only loose the extra part of the price for the making plus the difference between the buying and selling price. Many Thais invest their money by buying gold and hanging it around their neck until they need it again! And this is exactly the reason why you do not have to have the slightest doubt about the pureness of the gold: The trade is bi-directional.
