Probably but I wouldn’t recommend this as a way to gain qualifications as a counsellor. It is very important for you to confront your own issues before you can help others with theirs. The best way to do this is in relationship to others and also in personal therapy for your own development. We’re not always aware of how our own history has impacted upon us and unconscious memories can be triggered when dealing with clients. It is vital to be aware of what is ‘yours’ as a counsellor or you may be unable/unwilling to ‘go there’ with your client/s. We can only take someone as far as we have travelled ourselves. Find a course with a good reputation and regular group work.
