I usually go to an ophthalmologist. What is the difference between an Ophthalmologist and an Optometrist and what are the advantages of going to an Optometrist?
Optometric and Ophthalmic professional practices are focused on the same issues: diagnosing, treating and managing eye diseases. Both professional practices provide the same type of routine eye care, although many ophthalmology practices do not dispense contact lens or eye glasses. Typically, ophthalmologists perform surgery, but not always. If we diagnosis an eye disease or medical eye condition requiring surgery or laser treatment, we will refer you to a well-established board certified surgical ophthalmologist. We have wonderful working relationships with many ophthalmologists throughout the Phoenix area should you require Retina, Cornea, Glaucoma, Cataract or Refractive surgery (LASIK, ICL, etc) consultations. Most of our patients return to our practice for their post-op and regular routine care.
