I use Xmarks BYOS to sync with my own server. Since I don’t rely on your web service, can I keep using Xmarks BYOS forever?

BYOS is not compatible with Firefox 4, but you can continue to use it with Firefox 3 as long as you like. However, note that the final release of the regular Xmarks for Firefox client includes own-server support and does work with Firefox 4. If you want to continue using Xmarks to sync with your own server after you upgrade to Firefox 4, we suggest that you switch from BYOS to our latest Firefox sync client and configure it to work with your own server. We expect Xmarks for Firefox to continue to work with your own server through Firefox 4’s lifespan, barring unforeseen changes to the browser.
