You need to rip the movie DVD in “Back up” modes. Other modes do not store the navigation files (.IFO) required for splitting and reauthoring. A DVD consists of video, audio, and subpicture contents stored in VOB files. The commands for navigation and playback are stored in the IFO files. The IFO files, in a nut shell, is the blue print to tell the DVD players how the DVD contents (movie titles) are organized on the disc, and how the titles are played back. Without the IFO files, DVD players (and DVD-Replica) do not know how to process the VOB files.
