Voters did approve a constitutional amendment on November 6, 2007 to provide a total exemption from property taxes to 100% disabled veterans. However, the legislation necessary to put the exemption into affect was not approved by the Texas Legislature until the 2009 session. The exemption was effective for 2009 property taxes.
