I tried to import an audio file but I get a message saying that Xpress DV won import an 8 bit audio file. What can I do?
A. You need to convert the file to 16 bit. You can do this with a third party application or use Windows built in sound recorder. To navigate to the Sound Recorder follow Start>All Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Sound Recorder. Pull down File|Open, navigate to the 8 bit wav, and open it. Pull down File|Save as, then click the Change next to Format. Select PCM and the appropriate Stereo or Mono, 48Khz (or 32Khz if your project is 32K), 16 bit setting. Then choose a new name such as “My wav file-16” to denote it as the 16 bit version and click Save. Now you will be able to import the newly created 16 bit wav.
