Because you are going to a secure web site (one which begins with https:// and shows a lock in the lower corner of the browser window), QuickConnect can not intercept your request and redirect you to the login page. When you first open your browser, go to a regular http:// URL (such as http://www.uiuc.edu) and you will be prompted to login. After you’ve successfully logged in, you can go to your secure https:// URL without any problems.
