I took some courses at another college and a few of them don appear on my UW Advisers Worksheet—others say UW 1XX or CHEM 1XX for courses I took. What does this mean?

The UW Admissions Office uses an X to designate courses that do not have an exact UW equivalent or in cases where the Admissions Specialist is not sure how to evaluate a specific course. In those cases you can contact the department of the course in question. UW 1XX credits are assigned to coursework that does not fit into an existing UW department. An X designation does not mean that you did not receive credit for certain courses. It only indicates that the equivalency has not been specifically determined. Transfer courses designated as an X can generally be counted toward Areas of Knowledge. See the department adviser if you have questions about your transfer credit. If certain courses don’t appear on your transfer evaluation, it may mean that the Office of Admissions doesn’t have your complete updated transcript from your previous school. Again, check with the departmental adviser to determine whether or not this is the case.
