I thought bad breath came from the stomach. Where else can bad breath come from?
Rarely does bad breath odor come from the stomach because there is a physical closure between the esophagus and the stomach. Unless the epiglottis opens with a burp or regurgitation, odor does not arise from the stomach. Less than 10% of bad breath is caused by systemic infections or diseases including intensinal disorders, bacterial sinus or lung infections, kidney and liver disease, leukemia and many others. More than 90% of bad breath comes directly from the anaerobic bacteria living in the mouth.
