There are a few separate things that can affect this. The first thing to do is to make sure the game is supported by Xfire. Simply visit the Xfire Games page on this site to confirm if the game is supported. The next thing to do is to determine whether or not Xfire knows you have the game installed and is tracking the hours for you. To do this, add yourself as a friend, start up the game in question, now Alt + Tab out of your game and view your status on Xfire. Does it show you playing the game that is running? If it does not show you playing the game, then Xfire likely has no idea that you have the game so it will not record your play time. Go to Tools | Launch, and view your games installed.
