Jamie. Take a deep breath and relax. You’re in good hands. OK, by law, your employer must remit your local taxes to the local taxing district where you work, not where you live. This is normal and fine. You needn’t concern yourself where the local taxes are sent to. All you need to do is file a local tax return where you live and include all your W-2s. Write down all your income and write down all your local tax withheld regardless where it was sent. Your local taxing authority will then reconcile the withholdings with the different taxing districts. For example, if you had your local taxes sent to district A and you live in B, then B will ask A to send it to them. Of course, B will owe some money to A because someone else is doing the opposite.
