I submit some of my claims to Medicare directly and some through a billing service/clearing house. How will using multiple submitters affect my electronic remittance advice?
If you are set up for electronic remittance advice with one or more of these submitters, the only claims that will appear in the electronic remittance you receive will be claims submitted by that submitter. For example, if you submit electronic claims to us through two clearinghouses–Clearinghouse A and Clearinghouse B–and you are set up for electronic remittance advice through both of them, then the remittance you receive from Clearinghouse A will contain only claims submitted to Medicare on your behalf by Clearinghouse A. If you are only set up for electronic remittance advice for Clearinghouse A and not Clearinghouse B, then claims submitted to us by Clearinghouse B will appear on a paper remittance.
