I see various lengths such as 17 3/4 inches or 7 5/8 inches in the jewelry gallery. Why these unique measurements?
There are standard lengths for necklaces and bracelets within the jewelry industry. See our necklace chart. However, when creating handmade jewelry with natural organic components you don’t always end up with exact lengths. Handmade beads, freshwater pearls and artisan created claps all vary slightly in size. As artists we concentrate on the finished look – so sometimes you’ll get a necklace this is a little bit longer. These length variations rarely cause a problem and are part of the charm of true art-to-wear. To add a bit of length, you can purchase a silver or gold-toned necklace extender at your local Michael’s craft store.
