I saw a torrent on DIME and bookmarked its page link, but now that link gives me a message that a torrent by that number doesn exist on the tracker. What happened?
Two possibilities: • It was removed for inactivity. This helps to keep the database compact and efficient. If a torrent is not under ban at present, but its last check-in by a seeder (not counting STOP events [a peer’s notification to the tracker that it is exiting the swarm]) was more than fifteen days ago, then when the last remaining leecher has disconnected, the torrent will be queued for removal from the tracker. If you want to reseed a torrent that has expired, and it is in compliance with current DIME policy, you are welcome to upload it again. Do not assume that it is permissible just because it ran here before: see this item elsewhere in this FAQ. • It was manually deleted by a moderator or an administrator. If you want to reseed such a torrent, find out the reason for the deletion and make sure your repost will not run afoul of the same problem. In either of those situations, a notice with the exact reason was posted to DIME’s RSS feed and to our notice list on Yahoo Groups.
