I saw a taxi cab with a Police Package sticker on the window or a Police Interceptor badge on the back. Why is that ?
That car was formerly a police car. Many taxi company buy used police cars. Police Package cars are built to last a long time. Used police cars are not always too great looking when the police are done with them and are fairly cheap to buy at auction. Taxi package cars will always have been originally painted yellow. If it is a police package car, you may notice the original color of the car when you open the door. A good number of used police cars become taxis, and can be found in most US, Canadian, and Mexican cities. New York City requires that taxis be brand new, and not retired police cars.
