I remember Yavapai College Events in the Elks Theater downtown; does Community Events still hold shows in other venues?
In 1976 Yavapai College, under the direction of Deb McCasland, started offering a series of performing arts events through the pilot artist-in-residence program from the National Endowment for the Arts. That first year they presented six artists performing a week of school performances, workshops, and public performances. Over the years, performances were held in various locations including the student center, Courthouse Plaza, Sacred Heart Church, Hendrix Auditorium, YMCA roller skating rink, Prescott Fine Arts Theater, and the Elks Theater. On April 26, 1992, the college opened its new Performance Hall to further increase the artistic and theatrical quality of event presentation. Community Events shows are now held in the Yavapai College Performance Hall.
