I recenlty visited Cali and noticed that there were an abnormally large number of cars driving around with no license plates, no temporary tags, no dealer tags etc. So whats the deal?

When you purchase a new car (or a used car without a plate) in California, you are given a small paper temporary license. It is folded and taped to the inside of the front windshield of the car. It is not obvious if you don’t know to look for it as they are only about 2″x3″.
