I received my new POL and it has the same number as my expired licence. Isn’t this just a renewal, then?
A. Once you are issued a firearms licence, that licence number will always be linked to you. For individuals replacing an expired POL or PAL, or those who renew on time, the licence number will always be the same. Q. I applied for a POL under the Aboriginal Peoples Adaptations Regulations for a firearms licence for the communal use of a non-restricted firearm for traditional hunting practices. My POL expired. Can I re-apply for a POL for communal use? A. Yes. Under the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada Adaptations Regulations, if an Aboriginal individual had the use of a community-owned non-restricted firearm for traditional hunting practices on December 1, 1998, that individual is deemed to possess a firearm for the purposes of the Firearms Act, and is therefore eligible to apply for a POL again under this initiative.
