I ranked #1 on a New Jersey Department of Personnel (NJDOP) Certification, why wasnt I selected for the position?
Certifications are set up by rank by the NJDOP. Individuals who are tied for any ranking, in the instant case, number 1, are equal in all respects. Therefore, the employer may select any one of those number 1 candidates. There is no order the District must use in selecting equally ranked candidates. The only exception to the rule is that Veterans are to be appointed in rank order from the top down. Please visit the NJDOP website (www.state.nj.us/personnel).
