I play the flute, but the marching band uses piccolos. Do I need to audition on a piccolo or may I use my flute for the audtion?

You are encouraged to go through the audition process using your flute. Upon making the band you will be issued a univeristy owned piccolo for your use during the season. If you own your own piccolo and would prefer to audition on that, you are also welcome to do so. University owned piccolos are generally not issued to incoming students until after the audition process is complete.
