I plan to look for a flat in Edinburgh but am nervous about moving to a new country without a place to live. What should I do?
No problem, lots of students will be in your boat and they all find places to live within a week or so of being in Edinburgh. We recommend you book a room in a convenient hostel prior to travelling to Edinburgh—then you know you have a place to stay from your arrival until you find a more permanent place to live. If you book for a week, and find a flat within just a couple of days, many hostels are flexible to give you a refund for most of your unused days. You can use Facebook to link up with other students, and online sites to set up flat viewings when you arrive in Edinburgh. Don’t put money down on a place before you see it though!! This is really something that has to be arranged on arrival.
