The blood, which is slowly passing out of the uterus, is collecting in the vagina where it coagulates and clots. The clots are forced out as you put pressure on the vagina, whether your having a bowel movement, or simply coughing or sneezing. This usually lasts for the first week after delivery, after which you should be okay.
