I once tried to get a photocopy of an article, and my request was turned down because of some kind of copyright issue. Whats that all about?

Top Most intellectual properties (books, journal & newspaper articles) are protected by the US copyright law. The law and a set of applicable guidelines govern what we are allowed to request as copies through interlibrary loan. Sometimes we run into a problem whereby we are not allowed to get a photocopy. If that happens, be assured that it isn’t your fault. We try to use the most liberal interpretation of the law that we can. In such a situation, you should consult one of the librarians to see if there might be some other article that might serve your need.
