I noticed that some of the Avon VitAdvance Nutritional Supplements contain caramel and cellulose. Should people with diabetes be concerned?
No. Cellulose is a fiber, not a sugar. It is of vegetable origin and like all fibers, it passes through the body undigested. It therefore has no affect on blood sugar levels and should not cause concern for a person with diabetes. Caramel is used in extremely small amounts as a natural food coloring. Its use as a colorant will not affect a diabetic diet.
