A. Cratering (also called fisheying) is typically caused by a contaminated substrate. Oily substances, silicone lubricants, wax or other contaminants can cause these problems. Sanding and screening followed by recoating is usually needed to remedy this problem. In extreme cases the floor may need to be resanded down to bare wood.
